Not everything will ever work-out as great as you wish it would. Hope is one thing however expectations are another thing all together. Hope means that you’re wishing that something happens for your benefit, whereas expectations mean that you feel assured that something will pan out exactly how you’ve seen it in your head and nothing will go wrong.
The issue with having expectations is that when things don’t go according to what you had planned it really plays with your emotions. The greatest issue comes when people are so assured that they’ll succeed at something that they rule out any possibility of failure and they look solely at what they can gain. You know if this is you, but what you don’t know is that doing that is what demoralizes you to such a great extent that you end up resenting the decision that you made when things don’t go as planned.
Set your expectations very low when you do something. Setting your expectations very low allows you to be more understanding when things don’t work out as intended and it also allows you to challenge yourself when it comes to finding different ways to succeed. Keep in mind that you should know the full potential of what you’re using to your advantage, however, you should be prepared to not receive the full benefits that you see other people experiencing, immediately you begin. It’s easy to see success and assume that it’s easy, although, it takes a lot of effort in order to achieve success in fact it takes weeks, months or even years for people to reach a point where you call them successful.
There are a few exceptions when dealing with expectations and those are that you expect the unexpected to occur as well, which means leaving massive room for disappointment or there’s the other exception which is expecting the worst-case scenario and how to react and deal with something like that. The reason that you don’t need to have expectations is simply due to the fact that you don’t know as much as you think you do. You can predict and you can assume something will possibly happen, but there’s no guarantee that those things will go exactly as you’d like to believe they will.
Expectations are great for giving you a reality check. They’ll make it that you realize that the world isn’t going to always favour you or make things work how you think they will. There’s no instant fix that makes life easier, your biggest problem begins when you believe that there’s a way in which you can instantly become successful. Take your time…
